Yahoo recently rolled out an update to its free email service for web and mobile users. The new version of Yahoo Mail is again now looking more like Gmail, which isn’t a surprise since Yahoo’s new chief Marissa Mayer was a major player in the Google empire before moving to Yahoo.

Ads are ubiquitous — when you're trying to watch a movie, listen to music or read news headlines. They've become so entrenched in how we consume media that an ad-free web sounds like a '90s utopia.

That may not be the case anymore with a little box called AdTrap. The device completely block ads from websites, videos, music streams and mobile apps that use a Wi-Fi connection. It doesn't require any software or configuration — just plug it in between your router and modem. The firewall box works with all browsers and devices. Users can also enable AdTrap anywhere on their mobile devices, which enables ad blocking over cellular 3G and 4G. Cellular traffic from the device routes through their home AdTrap, which blocks all ads on the device.

Cisco Systems and Facebook said they will work with big businesses such as hotels and retailers to provide free wireless internet access to consumers who sign in using a Facebook log-in.

The companies have been testing the concept with smaller businesses for about a year but will work together to support bigger companies that want to improve customer loyalty or learn more about their customers through offering free Wi-Fi.

Airtel Kenya has announced a free internet offer for all prepaid customers dubbed 'Good Morning'. The offer will give customers the freedom to enjoy free internet access on their phones every morning from 6am to 8am.
